How to be an effective manager and a human at the same time!

People manager is a hard job, especially when you're trying to figure it out for the first time! And yet, it is a CRITICAL role to a company's success.

The Human Manager is here to help you focus on the things that will make you more effective and less nervous on this new journey, all in one budget-friendly package!

Meet Rachel, the Founder!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at rw@turnkeytrainingteams.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Many people who first become people managers are not set up for success. They may want to assert their authority, or ensure that they're aligned with their own leadership, and oftentimes they come across more as managerial robots than people. The Human Manager is all about embracing your humanity as a manager to make the best decisions you can for you and your team.  There are going to be uncomfortable moments as a new manager, so you have to remember that you're a human interacting with other humans. Sounds simple, but it's harder to do than most people realize!

The short answer is anyone who wants to become a better manager! The longer answer is that this content was built for first-time managers who don't have access to training materials from their workplace. It is fairly common for high performers to be promoted to a people management role without adequate support. While it's an exciting move to go from individual contributor to people manager, there are a lot of skills that make someone an effective manager and may not come naturally. The people manager role is one of, if not the, most important roles in a company - people don't leave companies, they leave managers. So it's key to get it right.

Unlike a traditional training program, The Human Manager doesn't  provide the "one right way" of successfully engaging as a people manager. Instead, the program provides advice, guidance, and examples of how to behave as a manager who embraces their humanity and wants to do right by their team. It is up to each member to decide how they can use the content to best improve their performance as a people manager.

Members who join The Human Manager will receive access to a host of self-led modules that are appropriate for individual use or team use. These include videos, slide decks and/or eLearnings, and templates. Members also get one 30-minute 1:1 session with Rachel to get customized and targeted support for their specific issues.

It's like having your own mentor sharing stories and lessons learned along the way - with opportunities for practical application included!

Content is broken up into three main categories - managing individuals, managing teams, and managing performance. Each category has a wealth of content available to support first-time managers, or those who want to improve their management skills, in becoming the best people leaders they can be.

Absolutely! Rachel is available as a guest speaker or a workshop facilitator on any of the topics listed in the program. Virtual presentations can be done as part of the program; or, if you're not a member, you can fill out a request form at the bottom of the page and we can find something that works for you.
